Krismas/co-creators
From Tetrakatus Productions - The Art of Jacob Walker
It seems that "Krismas" is an idea whose time has come because there has been several people who have come up with the idea independently of each other. The following is a list of people where there is evidence that they came up with the idea on their own. This list is in approximate chronological order of the publication date.
- Will Shetterly - Put the Kris back in Krismas! blog entry by Will Shetterly (as originally posted December 9, 2004)
- Jacob Walker - Thoughts - Krismas blog entry by Jacob Walker, posted on December 28, 2004
- "Adnihilo" (Pseudonym) - "A Merry Mythmas Mssg" blog entry on "Less Than Human", posted on December 21, 2005
- Kris Gonzales - Invented the holiday independently, according to the Uncyclopedia entry, but trusting the Uncyclopedia is like trusting Revelations.
- Alexander - Entry on My Space, posted on December 20, 2006
- Mary T. Northampton (Possibly a Pseudonym) - Letter to the SMART Society, as posted on the SMART Society website.
- Carl Buell and Jeff - Comment on December 16, 2007 to the "Have a jolly godless Christmas, all!" posting on the Pharyngula blog.
In addition, there have been some anonymous references to Krismas, which at this point, is hard to determine whether they were postings by "known" co-creators, or someone else. There have also been references to Krismas where the context is hard to tell whether the posting was based upon something someone heard from someone else, or they came up with it on their own. You can see all current known references to Krismas on the Krismas/Other Websites page.
Update: Marc Bourret recently emailed me, letting me know that "I am now 70 years young and I remember the '40's when Merry Krismas cards used to float in my family. Matter of fact, when my uncle returned for WW2, there was a huge painted sign in our living room that read 'Welcome home and Merry Krismas, Roger'." I am working on getting some more details, and will place them on this site when I find out more.
